Looking for start times and locations of state-wide BBQs, musical acts, and fun for the whole family? Check out this listing of county-sponsored festivities.

On the 4th of July, everyone scrambles to look for fireworks, recreational activities, barbecues and parades to attend. Fortunately, New Jersey residents are a patriotic bunch who have a lot of options from which to choose.

Middlesex County

Fireworks will be at:

  • Alvin P. Williams Memorial Park at the Sewaren Peninsula in Woodbridge at 9:15 p.m July 3rd
  • Thompson Park in Jamesburg at 5:00 p.m;
  • Borough Park on JFK Boulevard and Violet Terrace at 7:00 p.m;
  • Carteret Waterfront Park on Industrial Road and Middlesex Avenue 6 p.m - 9:20 p.m;
  • Piscataway High School Football Stadium at 7 p.m.on Behmer Road;
  • LakePapaianni at the intersection of route 27 and Municipal Boulevard in Edison at 9:30.

Union County

The Fun Run and Firecracker 4 Miler will be held at Nomahegan Park and starts at 9:00 a.m.

Essex County

On July 3rd:

  • Bloomfield has an event at Brookdale Park and fireworks at dusk.
  • At Foley Field/Memorial Park, kids activities are at 5:00 p.m.
  • Monte Irvin Orange Park will have a Jazz festival at 5:00 p.m
  • In Mountainside, fireworks are at dusk at Our Lady of Lourdes, 300 Central Ave.

On July 4th:

  • Montclair will celebrate its 58th annual parad at 11:00 a.m at Bloomfield Avenue (at S. Fullerton).
  • The picnic is at Edgemont Park at 7 p.m. and fireworks will be at Mountainside Park at 9:00 p.m.
  • The first annual Urban Peace Day featuring Bow Wow, Mario, Lloyd, Sammy and Lil' Wayne starts at 4 p.m. at Weequahic Park, at Elizabeth and Meeker Avenues. Call (973) 268-3500.

Point Pleasant

  • Independence Day at Point Pleasant begins with a parade at 9 a.m. at 15th & Atlantic Avenues and proceeds to 2nd Avenue.
  • For the Seaside Heights Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza call 800-SEASHORE for information.

Cumberland County

There will be a fair at 3001 Carmel Road Millville on July 3, 2008 4 -11:00 p.m and on July 5, 2008 11:00 a.m. to midnight. Check the listing for other fireworks in New Jersey.
